Ralph A. Stendel, age 78, of Watertown, passed away on Sunday December 30, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Watertown.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Anthony Schultz and Rev. Mark Gartner officiating. Burial will be on Friday January 11, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. Relatives and friends may call at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. and on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials if desired may be directed to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church or to the charity of one’s choice. The Hafemeister Funeral Home of Watertown is in charge of arrangements. Ralph Arnold Stendel was born on September 30, 1934 in the Town of Concord, the son of Arthur and Helen (Thoemke) Stendel. He was a 1952 graduate of the Johnson Creek High School and a member of the US Army. On June 3, 1956 he married the former Lucille Stark at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. She preceded him in death on Sunday October 7, 2001. Ralph had been employed at Brownberry Ovens in Oconomowoc for over thirty years. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Watertown; a former member of the Watertown Jaycee’s and was a life-time member of the Watertown Conservation Club. Ralph enjoyed farming, playing cards, gardening and coin collecting. He loved wildlife and being outdoors.
Ralph is survived by two sons; Randall (Gloria) Stendel and Kevin (Beth) Stendel, all of Watertown; four grandchildren, Sarah Sindermann, Joseph Tucker, Kyle Callies and Deanna Stendel; two brothers, David (Beverly) Stendel of Concord and Donald (Marilyn) Stendel of Sullivan; two sons-in-law, Phillip Sindermann of Janesville and Gustav Callies of Concord, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ralph was further preceded in death by his parents; three daughters, Linda Lou Stendel, Kathleen Sindermann and Lisa Callies, and a brother, Alfred Stendel.
