Doris E. Schmoldt, 89, of Watertown, died on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown, with family at her side.

Doris Emma Schmidt was born on February 9, 1927 in Richwood, the daughter of Oscar and Emma (Buedler) Schmidt. On November 16, 1946 she married the love of her life, Ralph W. Schmoldt in Watertown. She attended St. Markís Lutheran School in Richwood and was a member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Watertown.

Doris was a great homemaker and worked seasonally for Aunt Nellies Foods in Clyman. She dearly loved her family and was devoted to her husband, in their seventy years of marriage. Doris cared about others, giving rides to co-workers, providing hair care to shut-ins and taking in family members going through hard times. She loved outdoor activities with her family... gardening, fishing, gathering hickory nuts, feeding ducks in local parks and loving birds, especially the Cardinal.

Doris is survived by her husband Ralph, 98, who resides at Zinzendorf Hall (Marquardt Village) in Watertown, two daughters; Sandra (Gary) Kemnitz of Watertown, Donna (Jeff) Albert of Warrenton, VA, two sons; Ralph A. (Linda) Schmoldt of Portland, OR, and Richard (Julie) Schmoldt of Richwood, three granddaughters; Kara (Nathan) Kroeplin, Krista (Todd) Schmidt and Shannon (Josh) Canham, two grandsons; Kenyon Kemnitz and Kalin Schmoldt, eight great-grandchildren; Makenna, Connor, Jordan, Lexy, Preston, Elena, Tyler and Zach, eight nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Meta Wollitz and Norma Halverson, five brothers; Ervin, Edwin, Arthur, Gerhard and Lester Schmidt and a grandson, Travis Kemnitz.
