Aurelia Widzinski, 85, of Oxford, CT, formerly of Watertown, peacefully entered into eternal rest on January 2, 2013, at Shady Knoll Health Care in Seymour, CT. She was the beloved wife of the late Sigmund Widzinski.
Mrs. Widzinski was born in Pila, Czechoslovakia on July 20, 1927, daughter of the late Stefan and Victoria Skarba Balasch Sr. Aurelia immigrated to the United States in 1954, settled, and lived most of her adult life in Watertown, WI. She proudly took her oath of US citizenship on May 13, 1968. She had worked as a waitress at Zweig’s Grill and The Legion Green Bowl/Lindberg’s by the River and also as a quality control inspector at Menasha Corporation in Watertown from 1969 until her retirement in 1992. In 2005, she moved to Oxford, CT to live with her daughter and son-in-law. While she truly missed her good friends and family in Wisconsin, she enjoyed her time in CT helping around the house and garden, taking care of her kitties and watching The Food Network and Dancing with the Stars. She loved to cook, sing and dance and was accomplished at knitting, crocheting and crafts. She was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown, WI. She also bowled on several leagues into her senior years and earned many awards.
She is survived by a loving and devoted daughter, Heidi A. Lund and her husband William of Oxford, a son-in-law, David Pollock of Sun Prairie, WI; grandchildren, Shiela (Thomas) Coulton and April (Matt) Zuberbier, all of Sun Prairie, Andrew Pollock (Tammi) of Deland, FL, and Kari (Bob) Campbell of Cottage Grove, WI, eight great-grandchildren; nieces, Ruthie (Tom) Pugh and Margaret (Victor) Miller all of Watertown, and Erika Balasch of Aptos, CA. She was predeceased by a daughter, Lucie Widzinski-Pollock, a sister-in-law, Marie Balasch, 3 brothers and a sister.
Her funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at noon at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown, with the Rev. James Werner officiating. Interment will take place in Lutheran Cemetery, also in Watertown.
Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Contributions, in Mrs. Widzinski’s memory, may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
