Albert F. “Kas” Kasmiskie, age 91, of Lebanon, passed away on Sunday, January 7th, 2018 at the Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, with his loving family at his side.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 12th at 1:00 p.m. at Hafemeister Funeral Home. Family and Friends may gather at the funeral home from 11:00 until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to the VFW Post 3709. Albert Franklin Kasmiskie was born on January 23, 1926, in Fox Lake, Wisconsin, the son of Albert and Mary (nee Moss) Kasmiskie. On June 3, 1972 he married Irene Kreuser (nee Magritz) in Kiowa, Colorado. Kas was a World War 2, Navy Veteran, serving in the European and Pacific Theatres. He was a life time member of the VFW post 3709, joining in 1946 and served as Post Commander for 17 years also serving at county and district officer. Kas retired in 1991 from Waukesha Motors after 20 plus years of employment as a machinist. In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, traveling up north, playing Bingo, watching his favorite sports; baseball and football, caring for and feeding many different types of outdoor birds, and always enjoyed VFW functions and volunteering there. One of Kas most memorable moments was participating in the Honor Flight program. Kas had a wonderful sense of humor, and was an excellent and caring husband, visiting Irene every day.
Albert is survived by his wife, Irene; son, Eugene (Rebecca) Kasmiske of Oconomowoc; daughters; Lois Wertschnig and Sharon (Mike) Miller, grandchildren; Kelsey Kasmiskie, Chelsey Kasmiskie, Natalie Kasmiskie, Jessica Kasmiskie, Jerry Kasmiskie, Lisa Solesky, Teresa Roberts, Kari (Harvey) Miller-Klug, Kristin (Mel) Miller-Stanley Kevin (Jessica) Miller; great-grandchildren; Mitchell and Gabrielle Solesky, Olivia and Fiona Miller, and Rosemary Stanley; brother Gordon, sisters-in-law, Doris Kasmiskie, Merla Stark, and Shirley Baumann; along with his loving dog Abby, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Timothy; a daughter, Catherine, and brothers Rodger and Everett.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Megan Lutz and the Veterans Hospital in Madison for the wonderful care given to Kas.
