Robert M. “Bob” Horack, 72, of Watertown, passed away on Sunday, January 08, 2012 at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 3PM at the Hafemeister Funeral Home with Msgr. Daniel Ganshert of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Watertown officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the funeral home from 1PM until the time of the service. Memorials if desired would be appreciated to Rainbow Hospice or to the charity of ones choice.
Bob was born on October 7, 1939, the son of Joseph and Mercedes (Thoma) Horack in Watertown. He attended Elm Grove School, St. Henry’s grade school, and finally Watertown Senior High. On May 13, 1961 he married Mary Goetz. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2011.
In October of 1969 Robert and Mary bought his family farm and they raised their family there. Bob worked as a truck driver for 40 years and was employed by the following trucking companies in the Watertown area: R.J. Coughlin Sod Company, Motor Transport, Allard Express, Advance Transportation, and Yellow Freight retiring in 1995. After his retirement from trucking he went to work for the Town of Watertown as a road and maintenance worker.
Bob was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Watertown. He was also involved with the Teamsters local # 200, and the Watertown Auto Club. Bob had a great interest in classic and antique cars and tractors.
Bob is survived by his wife Mary of Watertown, his children: Kevin (Debra) Horack of Watertown, Nancy (James) Schneider of Hebron, and Steven Horack of Watertown; his grandchildren: Justin and Nathan Horack, Kyle and Kaitlyn Schneider, and Kassidy Horack; four sisters: Mary Jean Jackson of Denver, CO, Carol (David) Roche of Hibbing, MN, Theresa (Dan) Bastian of Bend, OR, Joyce (Pat) Dunn of Fort Atkinson; and one brother, Donald (Carol) Horack of Lake Mills.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, one sister Joan Alt, and his good buddy Pooky.
