Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Michael Jensen officiating. Burial will be at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. Relatives and friends may call at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Rainbow Hospice or to the charity of one’s choice. The former Elizabeth E. Scharp was born on April 7, 1930 in Watertown the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth (Martin) Scharp. She was a 1948 graduate of the Preparatory Department of Northwestern College in Watertown. On May 17, 1952 she married Elwyn “Curly” Hall at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1993. Betty had been employed as a bookkeeper at the F. W. Woolworth Store for many years and later until her retirement at Lindberg Hevi-Duty both in Watertown. She was a life-long member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Betty was an avid card player. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Betty is survived by two children, Robert (Gail) Hall and Trudy (Lee) Rickerman all of Watertown; five grandchildren, Melissa (Todd) White, Janis (Patrick) Garland, Christopher (fiancée Courtney Fitzgerald) Hoeppner, Kimberlee Rickerman and Nicole Rickerman; a great-grandson, James Patrick Garland; a sister, Hilde Kijewski of Watertown; a brother-in-law, Howard Reith of Watertown and a sister-in-law, Audrey Scharp of Watertown; a special cousin, Georgieanne Kusel of Watertown, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Betty was further preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Gertrude Wanke and Pauline Reith; a brother, Herman Scharp, and two brothers-in-law, Harold Wanke and Al Kijewski.
The family would like to thank the staff at Rainbow Hospice and at Golden Living Center for the wonderful care that their mother received at their facilities.
