Hafemeister Funeral Home And Cremation Service
Shirley A. Hepp
Service: January 18, 2016
Shirley A. Hepp
The Lord, with Peace and Grace, reunited Shirley A. Hepp with her soul mate and husband Reuben in His heavenly kingdom on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. Shirley, 86, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She passed away in her sleep at her residence in Zinzendorf Hall in Watertown, Wisconsin.
Shirley Ann Eckhardt was born on December 2, 1929, in Watertown, the daughter of Ervin and Hildegarde (nee Krause) Eckhardt. She fondly remembered riding with her dad in his dray truck. After graduating from Watertown High School, she married Reuben L. Hepp in Lake Mills on October 2, 1948. After working as a billing clerk at Brandt Automatic Cashier, she and Reuben pursued their love of the land and started farming east of Ixonia. They fulfilled their dream by leaving the 40-60 acre farm to purchase their own family farm on Oak Lawn Road near Hustisford in 1955. Shirley once wrote, “That was truly a working farm. Everyone had a job that they could handle. It was lots of work, but a lot of fun times too”. In 1964, they started their second farm on Highway 26 just north of Watertown. In 1973, the eternally-bound couple moved to Grass Lake outside Clintonville where they enjoyed a semi-retired life until returning to Watertown in 1986. Shirley and Reuben truly cherished each other while doing what they loved and raising a vivacious family of eight children who always made them proud.
Shirley was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, the Watertown Senior Center and Plattdeutscher Verein. She was an avid jigsaw puzzle master with unmatched ability and patience to assemble complex puzzles.
Shirley is survived by two daughters, Sharon Nienow of Stevens Point; Rose (Dave) Anderson of Clintonville; six sons, Dale (Sheryl) Hepp of Fort Atkinson; Jerry (Linda) Hepp and Steve (Sue) Hepp of Watertown; David (Jane) Hepp of Howardsville, VA; Russell (Jill) Hepp and Ron (Laurie) Hepp of Clintonville; 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Hildegarde; husband, Reuben; daughter, Diane Louise; grandson, Richard; great-granddaughter, Hannah; her only sister/sibling, Ivy Johnson and son-in-law Bary Nienow.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Watertown Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Kral officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will be at Glenview Memorials Gardens in Ixonia.
