Joan G. Schleicher, 79, of Watertown, passed away Tuesday evening, January 24, 2012, at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 28th at noon at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown, with Monsignor Daniel Ganshert officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects on Friday, January 27th, at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown from 4 to 7 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m., and there will be an hour visitation at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
Joan Genevieve Wiley was born in Cold Spring on March 28, 1932, daughter of Lloyd and Ida (Blank) Wiley.
On May 3, 1952, she married James Schleicher at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson. Joan had been employed as a beautician in Fort Atkinson and Watertown. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown. Joan was also a member of the VFW Post #7852 Ladies Auxiliary and the Marine Corp. League Auxiliary, serving as past treasurer and president for both organizations, and was a member of the New Found Friends Cancer Survivor Group. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, enjoyed gambling, was an avid reader, and bowled for 35 years.
Survivors include her husband, James, of Watertown; her four children, Michele Iserman of Dakota, IL; Tim (Diane) Schleicher of Sullivan; Daniel (Donna) Schleicher and Steve (Kathy) Schleicher, both of Watertown; twelve grandchildren, Nick (Lisa) Schleicher, Mike (Lisa) Schleicher, Eric (fiancé, Holly Luczak) Schleicher, Brian, Kendra and Jonathon Schleicher, Korbin, Brett (fiance, Nicole Byrd) Iserman and Kayla Iserman, Jacob, Joe and Katie Schleicher; one great grandchild, Kinley Schleicher; two sisters, Marion (Larry) Haeney of Fort Atkinson; Carol (Wayne) Wogsland of Houston, TX; two brothers, Pat (Carolyn) Wiley of Paducah, KY; Charles (Ellen) Wiley of Alton, IL, and other relatives and friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael and a brother, Lynn Staude.
