A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January, 30, 2013 at 2PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Paul Kuckhahn officiating. Burial will be at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia.
Family and friends may gather at the church on Wednesday from 1PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials, if desired, would be appreciated to TLC Missionaries.
Herbert Edwin Thurloff was born on August 16, 1925 to Alfred and Ida (Hackbart) Thurloff in Ottowa. On June 14, 1953 he married Jean Ann Gerth at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown. She preceded him in death on January 17, 2010.
Herbert was a graduate of Waukesha County Public School. He was a dairy farmer and cemetery caregiver at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown, and enjoyed bowling, arts and crafts, and loved woodworking.
He is survived by a son Daniel (Val) Thurloff of West Bend, a foster daughter Barbara Howland of Dousman, two grandchildren, Jessica Thurloff of Campbellsport, Aaron Thurloff of Kewaskum, a great grandson Chevy Thurloff of Madison, sisters-in-law, Hilda Thurloff of Watertown, Catherine Thurloff of Oconomowoc, Shirley Wiesmann of Willis, TX, Phyllis Gerth of Watertown, brothers-in-law, Franklin (Audrey) Gerth of Beaver Dam, Clyde Gerth of Watertown, other relatives and friends.
Herbert was further preceded in death by his parents, a sister Lydia Mudgett, brothers, Martin, Robert, and Arthur Thurloff.
The family would like to thank Emerald Ridge of Hartford and Four Seasons Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Herbert.
