Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January, 31, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Anthony Schultz and Rev. Mark Gartner officiating. Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 30 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at St. Luke’s. Burial will take place at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to Jefferson Memory Care and St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Jean Carol Polensky was born on July 5, 1936 in Watertown, the daughter of Emil and Norma (nee Wegner) Polensky. She was a 1954 graduate of Watertown High School. On January 9, 1955, she married Lloyd A. Schliewe in Watertown. Jean had been employed as a telephone operator at Wisconsin Bell. She later was employed at Village Blacksmith and Basco, all in Watertown. She retired as a school secretary at St. John’s Lutheran School in Watertown, where she loved working for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 189, Plattdeutscher Verein and AARP. Jean was also a member of the Watertown Jaycees and Wethonkitha Club. She was an avid bowler for over 50 years. Jean enjoyed playing golf and cards. She loved to play piano and the organ as well as sing in the choir at the Watertown Senior Center. Jean was very fond of knitting, crocheting and reading.
Jean is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lloyd of Watertown; children, David A. Schliewe of Pewaukee; Andrew J. (Nancy) Schliewe of Franklin; Mark L. Schliewe of Jacksonville, North Carolina; Mary J. Schliewe of Milwaukee; Rebecca R. (Jim) Jahns of Slinger as well as grandchildren: Joshua Schliewe, Trista Bagley, Breana Schliewe, Kenneth Schliewe, Kayla Schliewe, Eliza Jahns, Ethan Jahns and four great-grandchildren. She is further survived by sisters, Arlis Schmeichel, Mary Zastrow and Shirley Polensky, all of Watertown. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Norma; brothers, Russell (Millie) Polensky; Robert (Judy) Polensky; brothers-in-law, Norman Zastrow; Donald Meske and Gordon Schmeichel.
