Edwin Arnold Staude, 90, of Watertown passed away on January 27, 2016 peacefully in his sleep.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with Pastor Mark Bartsch, Chaplain of Heritage Homes, officiating. Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Monday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial with military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #189 and will take place at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, W4095 County Road B, Johnson Creek, Wisconsin 53038, or Heritage Homes.
Staude was born in Farmington on January 23, 1926. He graduated from Johnson Creek High School where he was a charter member of the Johnson Creek FFA Chapter. After High School he continued his education at Madison for Farm Short Course, receiving a two year certificate. He was a member of the American Legion Post #189 in Watertown.
Staude served as a sergeant in the United States Army for two years during World War II. Upon returning home, he married Jeanette Emily Miller on June 19, 1948. They were happily married for over 67 years.
He took over the family farm and was a farmer most of his life. He had a small dairy herd and row crop operation. While running the family farm Staude also worked at Schweiger’s Furniture Company and Hartwig’s Poultry Farm processing plant. He sold the dairy herd in the late 80’s and retired to Johnson Creek in 2000. Ed loved playing cards and spending time at the casino. If there was a game of pinochle, euchre, or sheepshead going on you could find Ed at the table. He was an active card player at the Fort and Jefferson Senior Centers. He also enjoyed picking out hickory nuts for family and friends. He was surrounded in life by his family and friends.
Staude is survived by his wife, Jeanette of Watertown, and four children, Dennis Staude and his wife Pam of Fort Atkinson, Dale Staude and his wife Donna of Watertown, Lucinda (Cindy) Zabel of Poynette and Dean Staude and his wife Sara of Watertown; his 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Staude was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Elva (Frank) Staude as well as his three brothers, Ernest, Delbert, and Alvin.
