Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Karl Walther officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or to Luther Preparatory School. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Lois Elizabeth Olga Cares was born on August 7, 1935 in the Town of Herman, the daughter of Herman and Leona (nee Falk) Cares. She was baptized on August 18, 1935 at Emanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in the Town of Herman. Lois attended Christ Ev. Lutheran grade school in Milwaukee where her father served as pastor. She was a graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran High School and later attended Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota. She was a teacher at Centennial Lutheran in Milwaukee. Lois served many years as secretary for the presidents of Northwestern College and Northwestern Preparatory School. Lois married Arthur John Jenswold in 1956 at Christ Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Their marriage was blessed with three children. In 1968, Lois and her family moved to Watertown. She enjoyed traveling to scenic and historic places together with her husband and long-time friends, Sue and Don Holzueter. First and foremost, she loved her family and looked forward to gatherings, small and large, of children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Lois was a volunteer for Watertown Memorial Hospital and since the year 2000 has knitted over 2,300 hats for newborns.
Lois is survived by her children, Carolyn (Kasey) Doss of Conifer, CO; John (Kris) Jenswold of East Troy; Joel (Susan) Jenswold of Hortonville as well as six grandchildren, Joshua (Natalie), Brittany (fiance Dylan), Jacob (Madeline), Nicolas, Nathan, Rachel and one great-grandchild expected in July. She is further survived by sister-in-law, Marianne Cares as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Leona; husband, Arthur as well as her brother, the Rev. Gerhardt Cares. She was the last member of her immediate family.
