Moe Louie Chin, MD, 66 died peacefully on January 22, 2018 at his home in Watertown, WI. Moe was born in Seattle, WA on April 4th, 1951. He was the son of Mai and Ark Chinn. He was the youngest of 4 siblings.
Moe is survived by his wife and caregiver Karen Rybold Chin; daughter Maggie Chin (Nathaniel Jungbluth); son Nathaniel Chin (Erin Hoppe); grandson Jack Moe Jungbluth; brother Leung Chinn (Betty); and brother Chung Chinn (Sue). He was preceded in death by both parents, Mai and Ark Chinn; and brother, Georman Chinn (Marguerite).
Moe was a beloved member of the Watertown community for many years in his various roles as family physician, Medical Director for Golden Living Center and Marquardt Village, health columnist for the Watertown Daily Times, and friend to many. Moe was so proud of both his children who have followed in his footsteps in a profession he loved very much. Nathaniel is a geriatric memory physician at the University of Wisconsin and the Medical Director for the Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center in Madison, WI and Maggie is a family physician in Seattle, WA.
Karen would like to thank Rainbow Hospice, Dr. Jim Milford, the UW Geriatric Medicine Program, the WI Alzheimer's Disease Research Center and the Watertown Community for the support they have received since Moe's diagnosis of dementia. Many of his former patients, clinic and hospital staff have expressed their fondness and gratitude for all his years serving the community through medicine. These well wishes, prayers and support have meant the world to him.
Just as in life, Moe is giving a generous gift to the medical community to further research in Alzheimer's disease by donating his brain. A gathering of remembrance to celebrate Moe's life will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 413 S. 2nd Street on Sunday, February 4, from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the WI Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at adrc.wisc.edu. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family.
