Hubert F. Bergman, 89, of Watertown, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Marquardt Memorial Manor.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at 11AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ixonia, with Rev. Kenneth Ewerdt officiating. Burial will be at the parish cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Church or Marquardt Memorial Manor.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012, from 4-8PM at the Hafemeister Funeral Home, and at the church on Tuesday from 10AM until the time of the service.
Hubert Bergman, was born to Carl and Emilie (Gauerke) on October 4, 1922 in Ashippun. He was raised by his foster parents Franklin and Malinda Wegner of Ixonia.
On June 10, 1945 he married LuHelen Pautz at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ixonia. They were blessed with four children, Susan, Charles, Daniel and Jeffery. She preceded him in death, followed by their youngest son Jeffery.
He married Evelyn Heiman on September 7, 1997 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ixonia.
Hubert was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ixonia, where he served on many committees, boards and as an elder. For 19 years he owned and operated Bergman Livestock Trucking. He completed his career operating the Town of Ixonia Highway Department. Hubert was the former Fire Chief for the Ixonia Volunteer Fire Department and a charter member of the Ixonia EMS. He was past president and charter member of the Ixonia Lions Club as well as a sponsor for the formation of the Ashippun Lions Club.
Hubert leaves a legacy of three children: Susan (Randall) Neitzel of Jackson, Charles (Jeanetta) of West Allis, and Daniel (Deborah) of Oconomowoc; daughter-in-law Karen (Jeffery)Bergman of Watertown; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Esther (Harold) Bergman of Lena, IL; four sisters: Erline Wegner, Mildred (Roger) Kopfer, Diane (John) Wagner and Caroline (Ray) Weimer; two brothers Milton (Rosalyn) Wegner, Franklin (Doris) Wegner and brother in-in-law Kenneth (Ardell) Pfeifer, along with nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, three step sons Gerald (Cheryl) Heiman, Leslie (Jan) Heiman, Steven Heiman and step daughter Shirley (James) Degner.
He was preceded in death by his birth parents and foster parents; his first wife, LuHelen, his son Jeffrey Bergman; two brothers: Harold Bergman, and Leonard Bergman; his sisters Adeline (Bergman) Solveson, and Ardell (Kenneth) Pfeifer, Darlene Wegner and sister-in-law Marilyn (Milton) Wegner.
