Don W. Winton

Don W. Winton, 80, of Watertown, passed away surrounded by his loving family, Wednesday morning, February 8, 2012 at Marquardt Memorial Manor in Watertown, while under the care of Marquardt Hospice.
Don Wesley Winton was born in Ransom, Illinois on December 26, 1931, son of Orville and Ida (Kates) Winton. On April 12, 1969, he married Shari Ann Sprenger at the Watertown Moravian Church.
Don was a 1950 graduate of Streator High School in Streator, Illinois and studied business and accounting at Drake University in Illinois. He had been employed as an Assistant Credit Manager at St. Mary’s Hospital in Streator, Illinois.
Don was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Watertown and the Watertown Elks Lodge #666. He loved big band music and would have it playing at home on the radio on Saturdays and Sundays. He also loved the old time country music, which made his family vacation to the Grand Ole Opry one of his favorites. Don loved traveling to Arkansas to visit with his Aunt Mittie and Uncle Joe, and to Texas to visit his Aunt Nola and Uncle Buck.
Don belonged to Lazy Acres Fishing Club, where he and his family made many lifelong happy memories and caught a fish or two. He had many memories from socializing with his friends, and he did so, as often as he could, playing cards or relaxing after a long day at work, visiting with friends.
Survivors include his wife, Shari Winton of Watertown; his children, Jeff (Terri) Winton of Jacksonville, FL; Thomas Winton of Watertown; Jill Noyce (Randy Rickerman) of Watertown; his grandchildren, Noah Noyce and Wesley O. Winton; nieces, Julie Winton of Amelia, Virginia and Heidi (Jeff) Beerbohm; nephews, Forrest (Susan) Sprenger, Toby (Karla) Sprenger; a brother-in-law, Larry Sprenger of Mercer, other great-nieces and nephew, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Joan Winton and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Tekla and Edward Sprenger.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 11 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Watertown, with the Rev. Ron Kral officiating. Burial will be in the Watertown Moravian Cemetery.
