Howard C. Hilgendorf, age 86, of Watertown, passed away on February 12, 2017 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon with Rev. David Phillips officiating. Burial will take place at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Lebanon. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hafemeister Funeral Home and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to the American Heart Association.. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Howard Clifford Hilgendorf was born on February 20, 1930 in Watertown, the son of Richard and Ella (nee Bogenschneider) Hilgendorf. He was a 1948 graduate of Watertown High School. Howard served in the United States Air Force from April 1951 – April 1955. On April 12, 1958, he married Doris Grosenick at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon. Howard had been employed as a Supervisor at Hamlin Inc. in Lake Mills for 33 years and at Hevi Duty in Watertown for several years prior to that. He was a member of VFW Amvets 1018 Voiture Locale 750 and a lifelong member of American Legion Post #189, serving as Commander and Finance Officer. He was a member of the Lebanon Lions Club, Watertown County Club and Elks Club.
Howard is survived by his wife, Doris Hilgendorf of Watertown; two children, Keith (Lisa) Hilgendorf of Mt. Prospect, IL; Kim (Jim Neuman) Buss of Beaver Dam; six grandchildren, Ben Hilgendorf; Alex Hilgendorf; Megan Kehl; Courtney Buss; Kierstyn Buss; Cody Buss; two great-grandchildren, Emberleigh Hiller and Everett Hiller as well as sister, Audrey (Art) Ninmann. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard Hilgendorf in infancy and Allen Hilgendorf as well as sister, Lorraine Blakewell.
