Funeral Service and Celebration of her Life will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Johnson Creek with Rev. Bob Vetter officiating. Burial will take place at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. Family and friends may gather at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Lucille Marie Hartwig was born on December 28, 1923 in Johnson Creek, the daughter of Fredrick and Alma (nee Draeger) Hartwig. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Johnson Creek. Lucille was the fourth of twelve children and helped raise her younger siblings as her mother passed at a young age. On February 15, 1947 she was united in marriage to Henry W. Krueger at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Johnson Creek. Henry preceded her in death on January 29, 1978. Lucille had been employed in the accounting department at Lindberg Hevi Duty in Watertown. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Johnson Creek where she was a Sunday school teacher. Lucille loved to volunteer, dedicating her time to the PTA, boy scouts, cub scouts, girl scouts, girl scout brownies, F.I.S.H. driver and Senior Center, where she received the Volunteer of the Year award. She was a member and former president of the Richwood Ladies VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and baking. Lucille loved music and enjoyed attending Broadway performances, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra as well as Watertown Community Concerts. She enjoyed opening her home to host weddings, receptions, anniversaries and showers. Lucille enjoyed travelling, visiting nearly all 50 states and numerous foreign countries.
Lucille is survived by her two children, Susan Krueger of Watertown and Richard (Sharon) Krueger of Milton, FL; grandchildren, Brenda Jo (Bryan) Gatzke; Andrew Krueger; Jesse Krueger; Michael Wood and Jordan Stiemke; great-grandchildren, Amanda (Cameron) Nielsen; Mason and Tristan Wood; Thomas, William and Nicholas Gatzke; great-great-grandchildren, Shayla, Vance and Chad Nielsen; siblings, Jim Hartwig; Carol Neuman; Kathy Bauer; John Hartwig; Robert (Donna) Hartwig; sister-in-law, Ruth Hartwig as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Thomas Krueger; granddaughter, Julie Wood-Campbell; siblings, Frederick Hartwig; W.O. “Bud” Hartwig; Dorothy Fortney; Elizabeth “Betty” Schmidt; Donald Hartwig and Joyce Hartwig in infancy.
