Betty Mae Zastrow will be celebrating her birthday with her Savior! She was called to her eternal home on February 22, at Heritage Home - Assisted Living facility. Betty was 82 years of age.
Betty was born on Feb. 24, 1931 in Lowell, Wisconsin, to Henry Christian “Christ” and Frieda (nee May) Strobel. She became a child of God through Baptism, on March 15, 1931. She attended Reeseville High School and graduated May 27, 1948. She married Roy Zastrow on October 15, 1950 at St. Mark’s Lutheran church in Watertown. Betty was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Aid for many years. For over ten years, Betty and Roy enjoyed traveling across the country in their R.V., working with the Builders for Christ, a branch of the WELS Kingdom Workers.
Betty is survived by her husband of 63 years, Roy, her 5 children, 14 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Marilyn Bond and her son, Nicholas. Gail (Rick) Smith and their children, Jessica (Nathan) Belz and Evan (Becca) - Jessica’s children, Grace, Jeremy & Lana - Evan’s children, Cora & Rylan. Brian (Elizabeth) Zastrow and their children, Justin (Emily), Megan (Joshua) Seeger, Allison (Brandon) King, Kathleen (Matthew) Schilter and Zachary (Gabrielle) - Justin’s children, Benjamin & Henry - Megan’s children, Julia & Jonah - Allison’s children, Allyson, Emma, Isabel & Owen. Noreen Wilson and her children, Jonathan and David. Paul (Shelly) Zastrow and their children, Jessie Haug, Barry Haug, Becky Linde, and Carmen (Joe) Ramos - Jessie’s children, Keith & Christian - Becky’s children, Vanessa & Collin - Carmen’s children, Devin, Owen & Mason, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Linda Schroeder.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday February 27, 2014 at 11 am at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. James Werner officiating. Burial will be at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. Relatives and friends may call at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown on Wednesday from 4-7 pm and at the church on Thursday from 10 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Betty’s honor may be given to WELS Kingdom Workers, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Lakeside Lutheran High School, Rainbow Hospice, Lutheran Home Association or to the charity of one’s choice. Betty’s family extends a special “Thank-You” to all of the Care-givers that were part of her life the past few years and did so much to make it more comfortable. Those include the staff from, “Help at Home”, “Rainbow Hospice”, and “Heritage Home Assisted Living”.
