Walter W. Stark, age 81, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Watertown.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at 5 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Michael Jensen officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. A private, family burial will be held at Hustisford Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church or the charity of one’s choice. The Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Walter Wilbur Stark was born in Hustisford, WI on June 25, 1932 to the late Edwin and Irene (Schwantes) Stark. He attended Bethany Lutheran School in Hustisford and graduated from Hustisford High School. He married Lila Mae Hundt on July 11, 1953 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Clyman, WI. Lila preceded him in death on January 15, 1977. On February 26, 1978, he married Merla (Magritz) Frank at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Walter was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army from December of 1952 until December of 1954. He was a long-time member of Bethany Lutheran Church while living in Hustisford. He worked at Radloff’s Cheese in Hustisford prior to numerous years at Hevi-Duty in Watertown and Broan Manufacturing in Hartford. Walter lived in the Hustisford area most of his life and then moved to Watertown after retiring in 1994.
He is survived by his wife, Merla of Watertown; four children, Carol (Dave) Strysick of Hustisford, Gary (Heidi) Stark of Juneau, Cheryl (Roy) Rosenthal of Iron Ridge, and Greg Stark of Hustisford; nine grandchildren, Paula (Chris) Walters, Benjamin Strysick, Samantha (Andy) Freber, Matthew Stark, Kristy (CJ) Koenig, Kim (Fiancé Joel) Rosenthal, Eric Stark, Ethan Stark, and Evan Stark; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Kaul; 3 sisters-in-law, June (Clifford) Altwies, Irene (Albert) Kasmiskie and Shirley Baumann, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Golden Living Center for their tender care and compassion they provided to Walter and his family.
