Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 2 p.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Anthony Schultz and Rev. Mark Gartner officiating. Burial will be on Monday at 10 a.m. at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church or Lakeside Lutheran High School.

Lu Ella was born on June 29, 1918 in the Town of Lebanon, the daughter of Edward and Ida (Neitzel) Turke. On April 19, 1941 she married Victor Wiedenhoeft at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon. Victor preceded her in death on November 14, 1986. They were members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ixonia where Lu Ella was active in the Ladies Aid, the choir for over fifty years, Alter Guild, Evangelism Committee and worked in the school lunch program. Lu Ella was now a member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown. She was a life-long member of Ixonia Senior Citizens and the Twilight Homemakers. During her life she had been employed at the Scott Store, Shoe Factory, Red Bell Grocery Store, Jefferson County Farmco (now Frontier FS) and Knollward Retirement Home. Lu Ella enjoyed reading, fishing, and keeping in touch with family and friends through cards, letters and phone calls.
Lu Ella is survived by her two sons, Paul (Bonnie) and Daniel (Shirley) Wiedenhoeft; five grandchildren, Bradley (Jennifer) Wiedenhoeft, Jana (Darren) Ratzow, Travis (Rebecca) Wiedenhoeft, Scott (Gina) Wiedenhoeft, Jodi (Daniel) Miller; thirteen great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Brianna, Lucas, Connor, Oliver, Carter and Micah Wiedenhoeft, Dylan, Braden and Madeline Ratzow, Mary Eagen, Jessica and Noah Miller; friends, Lucille Bobrofsky, Norbert and Irene Willing and other relatives and friends.
She was the last member of her immediate family. Also preceding her in death were her parents; an infant son, James Edward; a brother; Elmer Turke; a sister, Irene; brothers-in-law, Oscar Dornfeld, Paul Lawrence, Bill Evans and Herbert Gauerke and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Evans Gauerke,
