It pleased the Lord that this was the time to call Merlin W. Medenwaldt Home.
Merlin was 79 and a resident of Johnson Creek. He was born on August 31, 1932 in Hankinson, North Dakota the son of Alfred and Gertrude (Klawitter) Medenwaldt. On June 20, 1954 he married the former Norma Jean Freudenburg in Madison, Nebraska. Merlin was engaged in dairy farming all of his life. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. He had enjoyed hunting and fishing. Merlin was a volunteer at the Twice as Nice Resale Shop in Jefferson.
Merlin is survived by his wife, Norma Jean of Johnson Creek; his mother, Gertrude of Waterloo; two children, Joel (Gayle) Medenwaldt and Jody (Julie) Medenwaldt, both of Johnson Creek; seven grandchildren, Trisha (Erik) Miller, Tabatha Medenwaldt, Timothy Medenwaldt, Tiffany Medenwaldt, Hannah Medenwaldt, Lillyanne Medenwaldt and Elijah Medenwaldt; one great-grandson, Carson; three sisters and four brothers, nieces nephews and other relatives and friends. Merlin was preceded in death by his father, a son Jonathon; a sister, Verla Westphal and two sisters in infancy.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 6 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Rev. Bruce McKenney and Rev. James Rath officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the church on Friday from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or to Lakeside Lutheran High School would be appreciated.
