A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 3rd at 11 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown with Monsignor Daniel Ganshert officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m., with a prayer service at 5 p.m. There will also be a visitation on Monday morning at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Memorials, in Gilbert’s name, may be made to the church or to the Wisconsin Parkinson’s Association.

Gilbert Edward was born in Watertown on March 21, 1925, son of Henry and Josephine (Kios) Fendt. He was a graduate of Watertown High School and served in the United States Army during WWII. On November 9, 1946
he married Frances Lagerman at St. Henry Catholic Church. Frances preceded him in death on March 4, 1988.
Gib had been employed as a Shipping & Receiving Clerk at Watertown Metals most of his life.
He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and a former member of the Watertown Elks Lodge. Gib enjoyed woodworking and golf. He especially enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his four children, Ronald (Susan) of Watertown; Dennis (DeDe) of Oakdale, MN; Robert (Ellen) of LaCrosse; Christine (Ron) Altenburg of Watertown; his ten grandchildren, Jacki (Robert) Foss, Alicia (Tom) Voell, Bill (Aja) Fendt, Elizabeth Fendt, Doug Fendt, Adam Altenburg, Joseph Fendt, Frannie (Jacob) Neuman, Jonathan Fendt and Emily Fendt; five great grandchildren Alexander Fendt, Nicolette Fendt, Andrew Fendt, Chase Gilbert Neuman, Annabell Fendt; a brother, Jerome Fendt of Watertown; a sister-in-law, Muriel Lagerman of Janesville, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Gib was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Francis Fendt.
