Howard “Howie” Reith, age 85 of Watertown, passed away on Thursday evening, February 25, 2016 at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 11 am at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Karl Walther officiating. Burial will be at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and Marquardt Health Center. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Howard Lyle Reith was born on November 15, 1930 in Reeseville the son of Herbert and Leonora (Scherberth) Reith. He was a graduate of Juneau High School and a veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Korean War. On September 8, 1956 he married Pauline Scharp at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. She preceded him in death on September 5, 2003. Howie had been employed at Johnson Controls in Watertown until 1987 when he moved to Las Vegas, NV with his wife. They returned to Watertown in 2000. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and the Watertown American Legion Post #189. Howie had been a member of several bowling teams throughout the years. He liked polka music, hunting, fishing, camping, and road trips, but, above all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Howie is survived by two children; Ron Reith of Denver, CO., and Rhonda Reith of Watertown, six grandchildren; Jessica (David) Coyle, Anthony (Sarah) Reith, Jared (Amanda) Lafler, Jennifer (Daniel) Clarke, Shannon Reith and Shawna Smith, fourteen great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law; Irene Reith of Waukesha and Jan Reith of East Troy, his companion; MaryLee Prochazka of Watertown, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Howie was the last member of his immediate family being preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers; Arden Reith and Kenneth Reith.
