Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Watertown and attended Lincoln Elementary School and Watertown Senior High School. While still in high school and upon graduation, she went to work at Brandt Automatic Cashier Company in Watertown, WI.
Evelyn met the love of her life, Armin Donald Genz, at a Clyman Fireman’s Picnic. They were married on September 13th, 1958, in Watertown, WI, and had two children: Darren Mark Genz and Kim Marie (Genz) Moll.
Evelyn was a gifted musician and played the accordion in a small polka band. She also played the organ for church services at St Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Concord, WI, where she was also a Sunday School teacher. Evelyn was an avid bowler with the Tuesday Tigers and also enjoyed playing cards, dancing, baking, growing and displaying flowers, watching the many birds that visited her yard, listening to polka music and hearing about the adventures of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her brownies were a family favorite.
She traveled throughout Wisconsin, to many states in the U.S. and even to Germany to visit her family. Evelyn also worked at Bethesda Lutheran Home periodically during her life and in her retirement years, Evelyn was an Avon sales representative who enjoyed the company of her customers.
Evelyn was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed listening to Sunday morning worship services, which she never missed. She was truly God’s prayer warrior, telling others about her faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Evelyn devoted her life to her husband and children, enjoyed the multitude of gatherings with her extended family and endeavored to make everyone that made her feel good. Evelyn touched so many lives with her kind and loving heart, shown, in part, by the innumerable cards and letters she sent to family and friends through the years. Those expressions of encouragement and unlimited friendship in times of need and times of happiness were treasured by all who received them. She was a beautiful person and will be dearly missed.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Armin of Watertown; son, Darren (Cindy) Genz of Ohatchee, AL; daughter, Kim (Randy) Moll of Sussex; granddaughters, Jessica Genz of Pflugerville, TX; Laura (Wayne) Mizzell of Oxford, AL, Emilee (Todd) Gauntt of Ohatchee, AL; great-grandchildren, Troy Gauntt and Rylee Gauntt; her brother, Donald (Yvonne) Drost of Watertown, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
