Bernard “Bud” L. Walter, 79, of Watertown, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.
Funeral services for Bud will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 11AM at Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Rick Brewer of Marquardt Health Center officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown.
Relatives and friends may call at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 4-8PM and at the church on Tuesday from 10AM until the time of the service. Memorials would be appreciated to Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek or to Christ United Methodist Church in Watertown.
Bernard Lee Walter was born on January 27, 1934 the son of Herbert and Irma Amelia (Russell) Walter Sr. in Mauston. On June 6, 1952 he married Beverly Fann Sarnow at the Methodist Church in Mauston.
Bud and his wife moved to Watertown in 1957 and he farmed in the Watertown area his entire life. In 1966 he won the Outstanding Young Farmer award and in 1984 he and his wife hosted Farm Progress Days. He was a member of the local Farm Bureau, Foresters, and held several offices in 4H. He was also member of Christ United Methodist Church and served as head usher and on several other committees. Bud loved spending time with his family while enjoying farming, fishing, playing cards, dancing, and semi truck driving.
He is survived by his wife Beverly of Watertown, his three children, Jim (Nancy) Walter of Watertown, Mike (Sarah) Walter of Johnson Creek, Pat (Dennis) Breselow of Watertown, ten grandchildren, Dawn (Tim Thyberg) Walter, Brock (Lindsey) Walter, Pam (Lee) Schuhmacher, Nick (Mandy) Walter, Adam (Heather) Walter, Tony (Jenny) Walter, Brad (Kristy) Walter, Karisa (Steve) Grunewald, Korey Stark, Katrice Breselow, 16 great-grandchildren, a sister Laura Jannisck of Belvidere, IL, a brother Willard Walter of Mayville, Sisters-In-Law, Lucille Walter of Hebron, IL, Marian Walter of Beaver Dam, Betty Walter, Elaine Walter both of CA, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Asa (Sandra) Sarnow, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Raymond, Reinhard, Wilbert, Howard, Ervin, Donald, John, Herbert Jr., Robert, father and mother-in-law Tony (Edythe) Sarnow.
