Allison “Al” W. Dittmar, 93, of Watertown, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018, after a brief illness, at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at 6 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Watertown with Rev. Jeffrey Meyer officiating. Visitation will be at the Church from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Heifer Project, Rainbow Hospice, or to the charity of one’s choice. Allison William Dittmar was born on May 22, 1924, to William and Helen (Siegel) Dittmar in Oak Creek on his father’s birthday. Al married Lorraine Carteron on November 21, 1953, at the Wesley Methodist Church in Watertown. He was a farmer all of his life and was a truck driver for numerous employers but most recently Wis-Pak from where he retired in 1998. Al was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Watertown.
Al was a talented guitar player playing in numerous bands and at church. After retiring, he enjoyed playing at local nursing homes. Al enjoyed riding his horse JJ, fishing, camping, gardening, reading, and had a great love of spending time with his family and pets.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine of Watertown; children: Lynn (Dave) Ewert, Lisa (Mike) Rowoldt, Allen Dittmar, and Annette (Tom) Reese all of Watertown; grandchildren: Krista (Jeremy) Reynolds, Kyle (Amanda Niere) Ewert, Amanda (Jason) Otto, Brad (Jessica) Rowoldt, Rob (Katey) Higgins, Holly (Cory) Kuerschner, Kaitlyn Dittmar; great-grandchildren: Elena and Joaquin Reynolds, Ryder Ewert, Brody and Kaine Otto, Damien Borchardt; a sister Beverly Lund; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bev and Cy Spangler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Laura Dittmar; father-in-law and mother-in-law, V.R. and Mary Carteron; sister and brother-in-law Gladys and Herman Prochnow; and brother-in-law Robert Lund.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Summit Trauma Center, Rainbow Hospice, Hafemeister Funeral Home and Christ United Methodist Church for their compassionate care.
