The funeral service for Francis will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Thursday, March 15th at 1 p.m., with the Rev. David Groth officiating. Burial, with Graveside Military Honors, will be at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia.
Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Francis Joseph was born in Peru, Indiana on April 24, 1938, son of Roy and Norma (Wuestenburg) Godfroy. He was a graduate of Watertown High School. Francis served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. after the Korean War. On February 17, 1962, he married Marcella C. Schuett at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Marcella preceded him in death on December 19, 2009.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Francis was also a member of the VFW Post #3709 and the BARTELME-SCHWEFEL Marine Corps League Detachment 349. He was an avid NASCAR and Packer fan, enjoyed fishing, bowling, darts and shooting pool.
Francis was a member of the Miami Indian Tribe of Peru Indiana.
Survivors include his children, Glen Godfroy of Watertown; Carol (Edward) Scheer of Waukesha; Brenda (Bryan) Goers of Watertown; Timothy (Susan) Godfroy of Watertown; Tina (Mark) Lisius of Watertown; six grandchildren, six step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, twelve step-great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Dwayne (Lee) Godfroy of Charleston, SC; Donald (Shari) Godfroy of Watertown; Jerry (Paulette) Godfroy of Hershey, PA; Leroy (Darlene) Godfroy of Watertown; Rosie (Donald) Grochowski of Muscoda, WI and Tom (Jean) Godfroy of Watertown as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Francis was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Larry and George.
