Caroline May Edwards was born in Adams Friendship on September 11, 1943, daughter of Chester and Viola (Drake) Edwards. She was a 1961 graduate of Pewaukee High School. On September 1, 1984, Caroline married Wayne Van Lare in Waukesha.
She and her husband operated Wayne and Caroline’s Idle Hour in Genesee Depot, Holsum Foods in Waukesha and Just 4 Kids in Oconomowoc. Caroline enjoyed gardening and bird watching.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne of Lebanon; her mother, Viola Drake of Watervilet, MI; two children, Danette Schulz of Hustisford; Richard (Cindi) Husting of North Lake; six grandchildren, Cyrena, Alexandra, Ryan, Andy, Catherine and Eleanor; two great grandchildren, Madeline and Dayton; two step children, John (Bridget) Van Lare of Erin; Eric (Mary) Van Lare of Ixonia; five sisters and three brothers, Nancy (Robert) O’Neill of Pewaukee; Willetta (Arlin) Carpenter of Oconomowoc; Fred (Denise) Dettmer of Waterford; Sherry (Mark) Meinhardt of Sullivan; Chet (Marcie) Edwards of East Troy, Robert (Kathy) Dettmer of Floodwood, MN; Bonnie White of Watervilet, MI; Linda (Mike) Ahles of Michigan, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Caroline was preceded in death by her father, Chester; her step-mother, Beverly Edwards-Ristow; a son-in-law, Wayne Schulz and a sister, Sandra Edwards.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 16th, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia, with Chaplain Shannon Finger officiating. Relatives and friends may gather in the chapel from noon until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to the Waukesha Memorial Cancer Center.
