Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2012, at 2 p.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, with the Rev. Anthony Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Lebanon.
Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown on Saturday, March 17th from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials in Ortwin’s name may be given to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church or to Rainbow Hospice.
Ortwin August Ruehlow was born in the Township of Emmet on February 26, 1930, son of Ortwin H. and Verona (Knuth) Ruehlow. On September 30, 1950 he married LouAnn Groening in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lebanon.
Ortwin was a dairy farmer and had been employed at Waukesha Motors for 30 years.
He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. He enjoyed music by the Don Peachy Band and going to polka dances. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and auto racing. Ortwin enjoyed fishing and loved his horses, Florence and Daisy.
Survivors include his wife, LouAnn of Watertown; his children, Sally (Kenneth) Kovalaske of Fox Lake; Darrell (Laurie) Ruehlow of Watertown; three grandchildren, Brett Kovalaske and Ethan (Brooke) Kovalaske of Fox Lake, and Shaina (fiancé, Joe Hankes) Ruehlow of Watertown; his sisters, Elaine Langholff, Marian (Curtis) Maas, Marcella (Marvin) Pfeifer, all of Watertown and Irene (Norbert) Willing of Ixonia; two sisters-in-law, Audrey (Jim) Nigh of Merrill and Sandra (Gary) Schwandt of Mayville, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ortwin was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Viola Key and two brothers-in-law, Lester Langholff and James Frick.
The family would like to thank Rainbow Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Ortwin and the rest of the family.
