Norman W. Bowman, 81, of Watertown, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Watertown Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 28th at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Rodney Warnecke officiating. Burial will be at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia.
Following the graveside service at the cemetery, a luncheon will be in the lower level of the church, served by St. John’s Lutheran Ladies Aid.
Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to the church.
Norman was born in Watertown on February 21, 1933, son of William and Edna (Hoppe) Bowman. On October 22, 1955, he married Florence Spoehr at St. John’s Lutheran Evangelical Lutheran Church. In his earlier years, he farmed and had also been employed at the former Royal Meats in Watertown. Norman then retired from his employment at Luther Prep in Watertown where he was a custodian.
He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Norman enjoyed reading the Bible and attended a Bible class at church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors and cutting wood.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Bowman of Watertown; his children, Gerald (Diane) Bowman of Watertown; Richard (Judy) Bowman of Watertown; Nancy (John Biwer) Pawlik of Brandon; Don (Colleen) Bowman of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Jamie (Jacob Wilson) Bowman, Jodi (Andy) Hartwick, Chris (Jackie) Denniston and Lora (Brett) Klitzke; six great grandchildren, Amaya Wilson, Gabrielle Wilson, Allison Wilson, Emily Wilson, Adelynn Hartwick and Gavin Christopher Denniston; a brother, Harold Bowman of Lake Mills; two sisters, Millie (Delmar) Gauerke of Watertown; Ruth (Rodney) Uttech of Watertown; a sister-in-law, Ella Bowman, other relatives and friends.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; step-parents, Walter and Mabel Kube; two grandsons, Gerald Norman “Bucky” Jr. and Jamie Zubrod; a brother, Edward and a sister-in-law, June.
