Teresa was born July 28, 1932, in Watertown, daughter of Edward and Celia (Pitterle) Klecker. She was a 1950 graduate of Watertown High School, lettering in music. On Aug. 28, 1954, she married Joseph McConville at St. Henry’s Catholic Church.
Teresa was a lifelong liturgical musician. She began piano lessons at an early age and used those skills to accompany the choir at St. Henry’s starting at age sixteen. She furthered her studies on the organ at Alverno College in Milwaukee in her late teens. She also played at St. Patrick’s in Thompson and St. John the Baptist, Clyman/Tri-Parish Catholic Churches of Dodge County. Her playing career spanned 59 years, including playing for many weddings, funerals, and special masses for numerous bishops, including now Cardinal Dolan of New York. On her 75th birthday, both the Milwaukee and Madison Archdioceses honored her for her many years of dedicated service.
In addition to her music career, Teresa also worked as a bookkeeper for much of her life. She began at her father’s Oliver implement dealership, followed by work at Dairy Equipment in Hartford after her marriage. In 1959, she moved to a farm in the town of Emmet with her husband and young daughter; they raised their family there. After taking a break, she resumed her career, bookkeeping at various businesses in the Watertown area.
Teresa also enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. Most Friday and Saturday nights found her and her husband hosting her sisters and brothers-in-law or close friends playing sheepshead. After her husband passed in 1987, she enjoyed playing 500 with other good friends during the day, as well as teaching her grandsons to play cribbage. She also enjoyed watching live sports on television, including Packers and UW football, Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs and White Sox baseball, Wimbledon tennis and NASCAR auto racing.
She is survived by three daughters, Maureen (Manny) Moreno, Watertown, Joan, Sandusky, OH, and Rita, Hoffman Estates, IL; one son, John (Shirley), Watertown; five grandsons, Manuel, Anthony and Patrick Moreno, Watertown, and Andrew McConville, Muskego, and Joel McConville, Madison, and one granddaughter, Nicole McConville, Watertown; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Klecker, Watertown; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph, her four sisters, Rosemarie, Loretta, Margaret and Dorothy, and four brothers, Harold, Lawrence, Cyril and Leon. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful nursing staff at Marquardt Memorial Manor for their love and kindness toward our mother in the past year and a half, as well as Dr. Roman and the staff at Watertown Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care to us and our mother in her final hours.
