Melvin E. Nass, 84 of Watertown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown.

Melvin Edgar Nass was born on June 12, 1932 in Lebanon, the son of Edgar and Elsie (Eske) Nass. He was a 1951 graduate of Watertown High School and a 1958 graduate of Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa with a Bachelorís Degree in Business. Melvin also was a proud member of the United States Army serving during the Korean War.
On September 12, 1959 he married Carol Beck at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon. Carol and Melvin were married for 58 years.
Melvin worked at the Oconomowoc Post Office for 12 years. He became the Postmaster in Johnson Creek in 1978 where he worked for 20 years, until he retired in 1998. He was also an insurance agent for Lebanon Clyman Mutual Insurance for many years, a job that he enjoyed so much because of all the wonderful people he could meet and visit with.
He was a proud, life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon, serving as an usher and on various boards and committees. He also belonged to the Lebanon Lions Club and the American Legion. Mel and Carol had an active social life being longtime members of a local dance club and several card clubs. He loved spending time with his family and friends, going out to eat and enjoying Carolís wonderful cooking.

Melvin is survived by his wife Carol of Watertown, two children; Carrie (Greg) Indestad of Sussex and Kevin (Lisa) Nass of Pewaukee, five grandchildren; Jacob, Connor, Brooke, Grant and Charlie along with nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Melvin was the last member of his immediate family being preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Marvin and a sister in infancy. He is also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Ron Beck, Ken Beck, Loren Holzhueter and his nephew Jason Beck.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 11 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon with Rev. David M. Phillips officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Lebanon. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 pm until 7 pm at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown and at the church on Friday from 10 am until the time of the service.
