Frederick W. Albertz
Frederick W. Albertz, 68, of Johnson Creek, passed away at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 after a courageous battle with pancreas cancer surrounded by his family and a dear friend. He was born in Watertown on December 20, 1948 to William and Lillian (Krueger) Albertz.
Fred attended Johnson Creek schools, graduating in 1967. He attended MATC in Madison. On April 11, 1970, he married his best friend and high school sweetheart, Sally Becker, at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Johnson Creek. He lost his father when he was a baby and learned early in life to work for things he wanted. He was a lifetime resident of the Johnson Creek area. He loved the village and was proud of the community it has become. He held office as a village trustee and village president at various times for many years, presently serving as a trustee. He was a member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Johnson Creek for the past 47 years and served on the council and was president of the congregation for a number of years. He was a mentor to confirmation students. He served on the Board of Directors of Watertown Hospital for 9 years. A special interest of Fredís was Tomorrowís Hope and he served on the board of directors for them also. He was on the board of Evergreen Cemetery in Johnson Creek for over 20 years.
Fred loved nature and the outdoors and he enjoyed many hours in the woods waiting for a deer to walk by. When he was young he considered it a success if he was able to shoot a deer, but as he got older it was successful if he saw wildlife. He said he loved to sit in his deer stand and admire everything God made.
It is a direct request from Fred that those attending his funeral wear camouflage or blaze orange to honor his love of hunting. He kidded that anyone coming in a suit should not be allowed in. He was adamant that his funeral be a casual affair. Services will be held at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Johnson Creek on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at twelve noon with Rev. Bob Vetter officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Fredís greatest loves were his family and his many friends. He also enjoyed camping and traveling. He was a talented man who could make or fix almost anything he put his mind to. He really enjoyed building things with wood.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Albertz; daughter, Karissa Albertz; son, Ryan (Alexandra) Albertz; grandson, Oliver; sister, Marion (Merlin) Holtz; sisters-in-law, Deanna Pfeifer and Carol Sidwell; brother-in-law, David Becker as well as nieces, nephews, many cousins and many dear friends.
