Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 11AM at St. Mark’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Watertown, with Rev. James Werner officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown.
Relatives and friends may call at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 4-7PM and at the church on Thursday from 10AM until the time of the service. Mary was born on May 26, 1929 the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Hron) Franks in Sun Prairie. She married Donald Helbing on January 10, 1952 at St. Mark’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Watertown. She was a member of St. Mark’s Ev. Lutheran Church since coming to Watertown.
Mary was retired from the Wisconsin Telephone Co. where she worked many years as a floor supervisor. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, until her eyesight started to fail her.
Mary is survived by one daughter Shirley Couper of Watertown, three sons; Daniel Helbing of Watertown, Dennis (Caryn) Helbing of Jefferson, Darryl (Ashley) Helbing of Mulvane, KS; one sister Betty (Everett) Wolf of Antigo. Mary had eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, two sons, William Fisch, who died in infancy, and Edward Helbing. Also preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters Margaret Weisensel, Bertha Duessler, Bernadine Thiel; three brothers, Charles Franks, Florian Franks, and Phillip Franks; one son-in-law David Couper, and one daughter-in-law Lori Russell.
