Louis G. Winkelman, 90, of Johnson Creek, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014, at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown.
Funeral services for Louis will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Farmington with the Rev. Richard Pagels officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials are suggested to the church or to Marquardt Health Center.
Louis Glenn was born in the township of Milford on June 5, 1923, son of Carl and Louise (Weber) Winkelman.
He was a 1942 graduate of Johnson Creek High School. On June 23, 1946, he married Lorretta Staude at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Farmington. Louis farmed and had been employed at the former Hartwig's Poultry Company in Johnson Creek, the former Village Blacksmith Company in Watertown and retired from Menasha Corp. of Watertown in 1988.
He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Farmington. In his earlier years, Louis played baseball and basketball with his twin brother, Carl. He played baseball for Watertown Hiawathas, the Goslings and the Johnson Creek Merchants. Louis also enjoyed bowling on the Senior Couples League and was an avid Milwaukee Braves and Brewers fan, Green Bay Packers fan and Wisconsin Badgers fan.
Survivors include his wife, Lorretta of Johnson Creek; his three children, Richard (Marion) Winkelman of Fort Atkinson, Jill (and friend, Clarence Gerstner Jr.) Heine of Helenville and Joy (Thomas) Probst of Watertown; his grandchildren, Amber Roth, Aaron and Michael Winkelman, Dillon (Lindsey) Probst and Jaclyn Probst; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Winkelman, Charis Winkelman, Micaiah Winkelman, Xander Messier, Kayden Probst; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Louis was the last member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold, Fred, Roy and his twin brother, Carl; and his sisters, Katherine Hudson and Myrtle Hartwig.
