Gladys Wendt, 92, of Watertown, passed away Friday March 30, 2018, at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Watertown Moravian Church with Rev. Allen Bergmann officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown. Family and friends may gather at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church would be appreciated. Gladys Munzel was born on February 23, 1926, in the Town of Emmet, the daughter of Leonard and Alma (nee Gaugert) Munzel. She attended Watertown Public Schools before graduating from West Division High School in Milwaukee in 1944. She married Walter H. Wendt on June 15, 1946 at Watertown Moravian Church. She worked for the University of California at Los Alamos and Fischers Department Store in Watertown for many years. She attended the Watertown Moravian Church, where she taught Sunday School, served on the Board of Elders and Board of Trustees, as well as ushered. Gladys belonged to AMVETS Auxiliary #35 Riedeman Thompson Post where she was a former President. In her free time, Gladys enjoyed ceramics, reading, knitting, cards, watching movies, and gardening.
Gladys is survived by two children, Thomas G. Wendt of Beaver Dam, and Judith A. (Gary) Sullivan of Janesville; two grandsons, Matthew (Sarah) Sullivan and Michael (Heather) Sullivan; four great-grandsons, Ayden, Owen, Christian, and Lochlan; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; parents-in-law, Harry and Clara (nee Baurichter) Wendt; sisters, Clara Haberkorn and Selma Talledge; brothers, Harold Munzel and Leonard Munzel Jr.; half-sister, Arlene Frey; niece, Cheryl Talledge.
The family would like to thank Dr. Vikram Goyal, the 3rd floor nursing staff at Watertown Regional Medical Center, and Rainbow Hospice staff for the compassionate care they provided for Gladys.
