Bernard “Bernie” L. Bockhorst, age 74, of Watertown, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 11, 2013, at UW Hospital in Madison.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 16th at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown, with the Rev. Karl Walther officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Waterloo.
Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Monday, April 15th from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Bernard Laverne was born in Portland on August 1, 1938, son of William and Clara (Huebner) Bockhorst. He attended St. John’s Lutheran Grade School and graduated from the Waterloo High School.
On April 16, 1965, he married the former Mary Jacoby in Lake Mills.
Bernie had been employed at Watertown Table Slide and at Lindberg, both in Watertown. He was president of the Wisconsin Central Labor Council and union president at Lindberg. Bernie loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the church dartball league, enjoyed bowling, and playing cards with Don and Joyce Kornacki. Bernie was an avid Brewer’s fan who enjoyed spring training in Arizona with his family for 27 years. He also enjoyed having breakfast with his auction buddies, was a sports fan and loved animals.
Bernie was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Watertown; a sister, Beatrice Dremler of Scottsdale, AZ; his children, Bill (fiancé, Connie Delleree) Bockhorst of Mesa, Arizona; Ken (Mary Beth) Bockhorst of Beaver Dam; Brenda Bockhorst of Watertown; David Bockhorst of Reeseville; his grandchildren, Christopher, Belinda, Joshua, Silkie, Ashley, Breighana, Allen; his great grandchildren, Rachael and Aiden; five step-grandchildren, Nick, Lucas, Lindsey and Levi, and Cole; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bernie’s nieces, nephews and grandchildren called him Popo or Uncle Bernie.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister-in-law, Alice Jacoby, a daughter-in-law, Wendy Bockhorst; a brother-in-law and close friend, Dick Jacoby and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
