Funeral Services for LouAnn will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Revs. Anthony Schultz and Mark Gartner officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, April 17 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown, and at the church on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Burial will be at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Lebanon. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church or to the charity of one’s choice. LouAnn was born on Dec. 23, 1933 in Lebanon, the daughter of William and Anna (Maas) Groening. On Sept. 30, 1950 she married Ortwin Ruehlow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lebanon, having been baptized and confirmed there. LouAnn was a homemaker on the family farm until 2012. She was a creative decorator of her home and yard, and was known as the “plant and flower lady”. LouAnn loved to play the card game “Rook” for many years. She enjoyed baking schaum tortes, making scalloped potatoes and ham, bullhead fishing, polka dancing with her husband, visits with her grandchildren, and trips to Branson. She was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
LouAnn is survived by her children, Sally (Kenneth) Kovalaske of Fox Lake and Darrell (Laurie) Ruehlow of Watertown; three grandchildren, Brett and Ethan Kovalaske and Shaina (Joe) Hankes; sisters Audrey (Jim) Nigh of Irma and Sandy (Gary) Schwandt of Mayville;
sisters in law Elaine Langhloff, Marion Maas, Marcella (Marvin) Pfeifer, and Irene (Norbert) Willing nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends Ed and Rita Prahl.
LouAnn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ortwin on Mar.14, 2012; brothers in law James Frick, Lester Langhloff and Curtis Maas; and a sister in law Viola (Donald) Key.
