Leroy John Sellnow was born on December 13, 1938 in Watertown, the son of Gerhard and Esther (nee Druczinsky) Sellnow. He was a 1956 graduate of Watertown High School. He proudly served our country, enlisting in the United States Army and National Guards. He was a lifelong member and supporter of VFW and American Legion Post #189. On July 10, 1979, he married Sandy Krusick at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. He was the owner of Sellnow’s Salvage in Watertown which was handed down to him from his father who established the business in 1947. Leroy sold his business July 1, 2011. He worked hard to provide for his family in the brutal Wisconsin winters and the suffocating summers and never complained. Those who knew and loved him have fond memories of being out at the yard. Leroy and Sandy enjoyed endless hours with their family and friends creating countless memories over all the years at their cabin. Precious time spent included deer and turkey hunting, bird watching, campfires, making wood, grilling, card playing, movies and fishing. He was an extremely active man who enjoyed playing softball (Sellnow’s Savages), volleyball, darts and cornhole (bags). His favorite sports teams were the Cleveland Indians, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers. Leroy’s sense of humor was contagious. Anyone with him would be in fits of laughter. He enjoyed life and the people in his life. He loved playing jokes, telling jokes and was a good sport about being the brunt of them.
All who loved him will dearly miss him. He is survived by his soul-mate, Sandy Sellnow; eight children: Daniel (Lori) Sellnow; Brian (Leah) Sellnow; Jennifer (Robert) Butler; Joel (friend Lisa) Sellnow; Lisa (Brock) Soutendijk; Garrick Fischer; Julie (fiancé Rich Patrie) Sellnow and Tyson Fischer; eighteen grandchildren: Brennan, Samantha and Steven Sellnow; Jamie Rusch and Emerald Sellnow; Jeremy (Natalie) Kumbier; Matthew, Jacob, Hollie and Ethan Sellnow; Shane, Zachary, Dustin and Danielle Soutendijk; Kalin Fischer; Jesse and Amanda Kubly; Olivia Fischer; five great-grandchildren, Trent, Andre, Macie, Alivia and Gracelyn; brothers, Jon (Debbie) Sellnow and Dennis Sellnow; sisters, Arlene (Jim) Krause and Helen (Gary) Brashear; favorite brother-in-law, Ronald (Joann) Hensler as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.
