Alden “Al” R. Meyers, 81, of Watertown, passed away on Friday April 12, 2019 at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with Rev. Ray Bezanson officiating. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Alden Ray Meyers was born on October 29, 1937 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to John Meyers Sr. and Evelyn (Sterling) Meyers.
Alden moved to Wisconsin at an early age with his mother and two sisters. He attended school in Johnson Creek. When Alden was 17 years old, he joined the United States Navy to see the world. He often talked about his ship being in Greece for Grace Kelly’s wedding. After Alden’s time in the Navy he came to Watertown and met his wife Carol Jean (Nehls) Meyers. They were married on January 20, 1962 at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown. Over the years Alden worked as a truck driver for Wis-Pak in Watertown and Caine Trucking in Reeseville. Alden retired at the age of 60 due to medical issues.
Alden is survived by his wife of 57 years; daughters: Nancy (Mike) Zitelman, Cindy (Sean) Behymer and one son David (Trisha) Meyers; grandchildren: Lindsay Zechzer, Ashley Zechzer, Jared Behymer, Brittney Behymer, Raquel (Richard) Garms, Marissa Meyers, Jordan Ryan, Janelle Ryan, Mckenze Booth; great-grandchildren: Jaxson Wilburn, and Arabella Garms; sisters: Susan Chambers of Alabama, Julie Loomis of St. Petersburg, FL, Evelyn (Dan) Bruhn of Umatilla, FL, Theodora Margelofsky of Beaver Dam, and Jolida Reinhardt of Milwaukee; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: James and Patricia Nehls, Ralph and Sandra Nehls, Wayne and Beverly Herold, David and Barbara Kesler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jackie Schultz and a brother John “Bud” Meyers.
