Norman R. Zastrow, age 80 of Watertown, passed away on Thursday afternoon, April 23, 2015 following a courageous battle with Leukemia.
Norman Roland Zastrow was born on September 15, 1934 in Watertown, the son of Roland and Viola (Sydow) Zastrow. He was a 1952 graduate of the Johnson Creek High School. Norman was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Army. On April 22, 1956 he was married to Mary Polensky at the Watertown Moravian Church. Norm had been employed at Waukesha Dresser Industries as a machinist for over forty years. He was a driver for Kennedy Chevrolet in Watertown. Norm loved to work on his pride & joy vehicles. He was an avid NASCAR follower. He was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers. Norman was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown. He was a former member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Concord for sixty-nine years, where he served on the Board of Christian Education and served as an Elder. Norm was also a member of the Silver Creek Riders Snowmobile Club.
Norman is survived by his beloved wife, Mary of Watertown, one brother; Gordon (Phyllis) Zastrow of the Town of Erin, two sisters; Eileen (Pat) McKenna of Watertown and Shari (John) Meyers of Watertown, three sisters-in-law; Jean (Lloyd) Schliewe, Arlis Schmeichel and Mildred Polensky all of Watertown, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, a son Michael, one sister; Mardelle Symanowicz, two brothers-in-law; Russell Polensky and Robert Polensky.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 28, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. David Groth officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery in Concord. Memorials if desired may be directed to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Building Fund. The Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown are serving the family.
