Brian N. Holcomb
Brian N. Holcomb, age 48, passed away on April 12, 2015.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on May 1st at the Hafemeister Funeral Home from 4 until 8 p.m. A time of sharing is offered and encouraged at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Marquardt Hospice and to his son, Carson, are appreciated.
Brian Neil Holcomb was born on May 26, 1966 in Portage, WI, son of Conrad “Connie” and Carolyn (nee Shay) Holcomb. Brian graduated from Johnson Creek High School in 1984 and joined the US Navy. He married the former Dawn Stokesberry on September 26, 1998 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kenosha. She preceded him in death on February 6, 2013.
Brian’s true passion was fixing and restoring anything that had an internal combustion engine. This included pre and post war American cars, vintage tractors, old motorcycles, farm hit and miss engines, but most notably vintage Volkswagens. He grew up as a third generation mechanic—it was in his blood. Brian and his father restored many cars over the years, with three Volkswagens being featured in the national magazine VW Trends.
Brian was always there to help when someone broke down on the road or had questions during a restoration or routine maintenance. No matter when you called him, he was there to help; if you needed a part, he was quick to offer it from his “secret stash.” His dedication to the hobby and willingness to help people, who at times he did not even know, will be greatly missed. He also enjoyed ice fishing and collecting antiques. Most of all, Brian loved his son Carson.
Survivors include his son, Carson; parents, Conrad “Connie” and Carolyn Holcomb of Watertown; brother, Darrin (Vickie) Holcomb of Watertown; sister, Becky (George) Jaeckel of Fort Atkinson; Nephews, Zach Holcomb, Adam Holcomb, and Kyle Jaeckel; a niece, Emily Jaeckel, as well as other relatives and friends.
He is further preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
