Lloyd M. Koellen, age 80, of Watertown, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Our House Memory Care in Whitewater.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Scott Jablonski officiating. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Johnson Creek. Family and friends may gather at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and again and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Lloyd Mathew Koellen was born on November 15, 1935 in Madison, the son of Joseph and Evelyn (nee Shaffer) Koellen. On April 16, 1955 he married the former Lois Schoenike in Watertown. Lloyd had been employed at Friskies in Jefferson for 42 years. He also farmed at home in Milford, raising beef and draft horses. Lloyd was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. He was also a lifetime member of Plattdeutscher, Hubbleton Snowmobile Club and NRA Club. Lloyd helped organize the Jefferson Draft Horse Association. He enjoyed farming and taking his horses to Old World Wisconsin. There, the horses did farm work, wagon train rides and participated in horse auctions.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Lois; mother Evelyn Koellen of Wyocena Wi.; four children, Jeff (Laurie) Koellen; Scott (Lisa) Koellen, all of Johnson Creek; Kurt (Monica) Koellen of Watertown; Linda (Katrina) Knilans of Colorado; grandchildren, Trisha, Katelyn, Timothy, Tyler, Kala and Kyle Koellen; step-grandaughter, Amy Grunewald as well as great-step-granddaughters, Karena and Klara. He is further survived by two sisters, Audrey Wojculis; Arlene Retterath, both of Port Richey, FL; brother, Robert (Barbara) Koellen of Packwaukee and Tom Koellen; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph; sister, Agnes Hemenway; a son in infancy, Lloyd Arthur Koellen as well as father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Leone Schoenike.
