Howard L. Hoeft, 86, of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at his home.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Zion Lutheran Church in Clyman with Rev. Michael Schempf officiating. Military Rites will be conducted following the service. Family and friends may gather at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church, Badger Honor Flight or Rainbow Hospice. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Howard Leroy Hoeft was born on May 11, 1931 in Watertown, the son of George and Viola (nee Kaul) Hoeft. His confirmation verse was John 3:16. On October 6, 1956, he was united in marriage to Betty Fredrick at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Neosho. Howie served in the United States Army in Korea. He was honored to be chosen for the Badger Honor Flight with his son, Lonnie. He was a dairy farmer his whole life. Howie volunteered at voting polls and was a blood donor. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and tinkering in his work area, making wood cut-outs.
Howie is survived by his wife, Betty Hoeft of Watertown; two children, Laurie (Darrell) Ruehlow also of Watertown and Lonnie (Faye) Hoeft of Horicon; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Oscar Pardo) Hoeft of West Allis and Shaina (Joseph) Hankes of Sun Prairie; two great-grandchildren, Dylan Schaefer and Aaliyah Pardo; sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Robert) Radschlag of Hartford and Norma Funk of Monroe as well as cousins nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mildred (Kenneth) Frederick.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the great staff at Rainbow Hospice and Rev. Michael Schempf for their loving care and compassion.
