Hildegard Anna Neuhaus was born on March 11, 1923 in Chelsea the daughter of Ernest and Clara (Osterman) Neuhaus. In December of 1953 she married Bill Lange and he preceded her in death on January 12, 1989. Her only child Dorothy, the pride and joy of her life, was born in 1955 and died in 2014. An extremely hard worker, Hilly ran their farm in the Reeseville area from 1954, raising pigs and chickens and milking cows every day for thirty-five years. For many years she had a large garden and canned the produce using her wood burning cook stove. An independent strong willed woman, she was not afraid of any task and could surprise you with her stamina and will power. To tell her she couldn’t do something was a challenge to her to prove you wrong. Hildegard was easy to get along with but was not afraid to tell someone what she thought. She had a loving heart and enjoyed young children and at times had foster children at the farm.
Hildegard was a special aunt to Terry (Elaine) Neuhaus and is survived by other nieces, nephews, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, Martha, Robert, Dorothy, Harry and Selma.
Thank you, to the staff of Highland House and Marquardt Village, for the care given to Hildegard, during her last years. A special thanks to Amanda, the angel, at Marquardt Memorial Manor, who enjoyed caring for Hilde, and was there when she was needed the most.
