Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 11 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Douglas Carter officiating. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown. Family and friends may gather at the church on Thursday from 10 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to St. John’s Lutheran Church Roofing Fund or to the charity of one’s choice. Melvin Ferdinand Lange was born on June 16, 1918 in Denver, Co, the son of Louis and Anna (nee Braunschweig) Lange. He was a 1935 graduate of Hustisford High School. Melvin farmed with his father until 1955. While farming, Melvin was the Town Clerk for the Town of Watertown for ten years. On December 3, 1955, he married Marion (Boltz) Bosacki at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown. She preceded him in death on July 31, 2000 following a lingering illness. Melvin was employed at Watertown Metals for over seventeen years. He was the caretaker of the Lutheran Cemetery for sixteen years retiring at the age of 81. Melvin served three terms as Alderman in the City of Watertown and also served as clerk for the Town of Watertown. He was a member of the Watertown Police Department Auxiliary for thirty-six years. Melvin was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. He enjoyed bowling and playing saxophone. Melvin has lived with the Savath family for over twelve years.
Melvin is survived by three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins, a special daughter-in-law, Janet Kramer of CA, two sisters-in-law, Shirley Vergenz of Kenosha and Ethel Boltz of Jefferson as well as many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Russel and Kenneth and step-son, Karl Bosacki.
