Florence Drachenberg
Florence Drachenberg, age 98, of Watertown, passed away on March 29, 2018 at Marquardt Health Center.
A memorial service will be held at 4 pm with visitation beginning at 3 pm on Wednesday, May 30 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Todd Iverson officiating. A private family burial was held at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Lebanon. Memorials, if desired, would be appreciated to the church, Immanuel Quilters or Immanuel-PEP (Personal Essentials Pantry).
Florence Irma Braunschweig was born on May 27, 1919 in the Town of Herman, the daughter of Gust and Althea (nee Schwefel) Braunschweig. She was baptized on June 15, 1919 and confirmed on November 6, 1932 at Immanuel Lutheran Church-Lebanon. She was a 1937 graduate of Watertown High School, a 1939 graduate of Dodge County Teachers College in Mayville, and taught in a one room school in the Town of Emmet. She continued to meet annually with many of her former students. On July 6, 1946 she was united in marriage to Max Drachenberg at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon. Max preceded her in death on November 23, 2001.

Our mom, Florence, stayed home when we were young and then worked, with many old and new friends, at Veldhuizen Vending. Mom was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown, serving as a Sunday School teacher. She also made numerous quilts as part of Immanuel's mission work.

Nothing brought our mom more joy than watching her grandchildren play their AAU, high school and college sports. She loved a good 'barn burner' of a basketball game!
Mom was a strong and independent woman, long before her time. Before and after she married our dad, she traveled about the U.S. We are so glad she shared her wanderlust with us and her grandchildren. Her well worn atlas was used often as she kept track of her family’s travel and various job locations.
For our mom, having no sons of her own, she treasured her sons-in law. She had a special relationship with each of them.

Florence is survived by her three daughters, Kathy (Rick) Schuett of Watertown, Marie (Terry) Reynolds of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Nancy (Dave) Klocek of Lake Mills; grandchildren, Ryan (Krista) Schuett of Watertown, Thea (Jeremy) Paxton of Eagle River, Alaska, Jonathan Reynolds of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kathryn Reynolds of Iowa City, Iowa, Nora Klocek of Milwaukee, Carolyn (fiancé Ryan Cronin) Klocek of Chicago, Illinois, and Joseph (Allie Novitske) Klocek of Madison; great-grandchildren, Eliana Schuett, Alex Schuett and Lucas Paxton; sisters-in-law, Lucia Radloff and Hildegarde (Ron) Kuehl; special cousin, Betty Schumacher and her family, as well as other relatives and friends at Highland Apartments and Zwieg’s Grill. She was further preceded in death by her parents, special cousins Rich (Barb) and Bill (Verna) Minning, and Drachenberg in-laws.
Thank you to Marquardt Health Center for taking such good care of our mom this last year.
