Mary Jean Trost was born on November 23, 1947 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Bill and Mildred (nee Halter) Trost. She married David Jacobsen on August 19, 1972 in Milwaukee. After graduating from Milwaukee Lutheran High School, Mary Jean worked in the area of advertising and graphic arts for many years, especially in production and sales. She often worked with Carl Ruppert, a well known artist and designer in the Milwaukee area.
Mary Jean loved working outdoors, tending to her flower beds and even cutting the lawn. She learned to love gardening from her father. The neighbors enjoyed her beautiful flowers, especially her irises. Her best friend in the years after Davidís death was her dog Lucky. He was her loyal companion and always stayed by her side, whether she was going for a walk, shopping or watching TV at night, Lucky was there watching over her.
She is survived by her son, Bill (Bobbie Jo) Jacobsen; grandson, David Jacobsen, both of Marinette; sister, Judie (Dick) Fjellman of Dubuque, IA; nephews, John (Kris) Fjellman; their children, Ella and Derek Fjellman, all of Waukesha; Keith (Lori) Fjellman; their children, Sean and Sarah Fjellman, all of Des Moines, IA; sister-in-law, Carol Jacobsen of St. Paul, MN as well as many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A special thank you to Jan Turke, who helped Mary Jean through her long and courageous battle with cancer, to Dr. Rafftery and to Rainbow Hospice.
