Nancy Ann Doubleday was born on March 4, 1934 in Watertown the daughter of Louis and Hannah (Vanderbush) Doubleday. She was a 1952 graduate of the Watertown High School. On April 30, 1960 she married Franklin Griep at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown. Nancy had been employed at the F.W. Woolworths Store in Watertown for ten years and retired from Shopko in Watertown after twenty years of service. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown.
Nancy always found ways to make special events even happier. Her unique piñatas and shaum tortes added joy to summer picnics. Her handcrafted wreathes and Easter dioramas brought cheer to the holidays. No wedding was complete without one of Nancy’s fanciful card boxes.
She enjoyed many sports. In her youth, Nancy was an avid bowler and played BINGO for many years. She worked in the concession stands for many high school games. Nancy was a fan of the Wisconsin Badgers, the Packers and the Bucks, but her true passion was for baseball and the Brewers.
Nancy loved to help others, especially children. She taught CCD at St. Henry’s. Nancy was active in both Boy and Girl Scouting, winning the District Award of Merit for her help with Cub Scouts. She hosted Easter egg hunts for the entire neighborhood. There was always a puzzle to put together at her house. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished the time they shared with special birthday cakes, Halloween costumes and too many sweet treats.
Nancy was a Breast Cancer Survivor!
Nancy is survived by her husband Franklin of Watertown; five children, Tim (Laurie) Griep of Fort Atkinson; Tony Griep of Beaver Dam; Cindy Hell of Stoughton; Debby (Bob) Kitsembel of Jefferson and Becky (Tim) Lauersdorf of Fond du Lac; 13 grand-children: Larissa, Staci, Kacey, Jeremy, Laura, Jordan, Joshua, Karissa, Shawn, Brett, Sarah, Melissa and Andrew; 8 great-grandchildren: Gavin, Gage, Emily, Camden, Carter, Grayson, Jude and Oliver; sister, Joan Fendt of Watertown as well as nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
