Rolland I. Fox (Rolly), age 81, of Watertown, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Patrick Wendler officiating. A private family burial will be at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in Watertown. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hafemeister Funeral Home and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Rolland Irving Fox was born on September 26, 1934 in Sioux Falls, SD, the son of Myron and Ruth (nee Rolland) Fox. Rolly served in the United States Army from 1956-1958. On November 28, 1963, he married Barbara Moonen at St. Maryís Catholic Church in Holdingford, MN. Barbara preceded him in death on October 12, 2003. Rolly attended Moorhead State University in Minnesota and later earned his masterís degree in education at Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, SD. He taught English and Social Studies starting in 1959. From 1966 until his retirement in 1996, he taught for the Watertown Unified School District, with the majority of his career at Riverside Junior High School.
Rolly loved watching football, baseball, and Westerns on T.V. He spent a lot of his time reading books, and had a love for animals. He also liked listening to big band and swing music, and spending time with his family. In his younger years, he and his wife of nearly forty years enjoyed traveling together.
Rolly is survived by two sons: Gregory Fox of Villa Park, IL, and Joel (Donna) Fox of Madison; two sisters: Kay Fox and Myrna (Bob) Sherman, both of Seattle, WA; two nieces: Jill and Kim, both of Seattle, WA; other relatives and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; and a brother, Barry Fox.
